Shopify Catalog Content Cleanup After an Import
Review product descriptions, image alt text, and search fields after a Shopify catalog import. Plan supported content fixes before publishing.
Clean up content after the import is complete
Lumi can draft supported content for products already in Shopify. First confirm titles, specifications, images, and product associations. It does not repair import failures, inventory, variants, prices, or source-system synchronization.
Choose the right cleanup method
Export a reference copy and identify which fields actually need work.
Manual Shopify edits
Good for a handful of products with unusual details. Check each saved field directly.
CSV editing
Useful when approved text already exists. Match Shopify columns and identifiers, inspect overwrite behavior, and test a small import before replacing a larger set.
App-generated drafts
Useful when you need new copy from reliable product context. Select fields deliberately, review suggestions, and publish approved updates.
A repeatable post-import checklist
Work collection by collection so the reviewer can check the same product facts.
1. Verify the imported data
Check five representative products, their images, materials, sizes, and identifiers. Correct source facts before generation.
2. Preserve useful existing copy
Record fields you intend to keep. Select the products and content types that need changes instead of regenerating everything.
3. Draft and review
Generate a small batch. Check factual accuracy, image descriptions, tone, and search snippets. Edit or regenerate unsuitable suggestions.
4. Publish and verify
Publish approved updates and check the resulting Shopify product fields and storefront. Record completed work and any remaining gaps.

Scope the first paid batch
A description uses two credits; each alt text, SEO title, or meta description uses one.
Ten products, three images each
Descriptions: 20 credits. Alt text: 30. SEO titles and meta descriptions: 20. Total: 70 credits on an eligible paid plan. Free supports the 50-credit description and alt-text portion.
Scans are a separate allowance
A public sample report and an installed plan scan do not enumerate every imported product or certify import accuracy.
