Accessibility tools for Shopify
Accessibility work,
without the guesswork.
Worrying about ADA lawsuits is stressful. Not knowing where to start is worse. Lumi helps you find missing product-image alt text, scan your storefront for accessibility issues, and turn what it finds into a clear to-do list.
Review and publish alt text in batches. Download reports your developer can act on. Check your storefront again as your store changes, within your plan’s scan cadence.
Free plan available. Scan history, trends, alerts, and 100-page scans every 14 days on Maintain.
Automated scans catch a subset of accessibility issues and always require manual review. Lumi does not certify ADA compliance or provide lawsuit protection.
Two places to begin
Move from "I should look into this" to a clear next step.
You know accessibility matters. But between products, promotions, and everything else, it's easy to put off work that doesn't have an obvious starting point.
Lumi gives you two:
Product-image alt text.
Find what's missing across your catalog, review drafts, and publish what you approve.
Explore alt textStorefront accessibility scans.
Scan a sample of public pages, review prioritized findings, and download a report to guide the rest.
Explore storefront scans
01 / Product-image alt text
Clear the
alt-text backlog.
Hundreds of products shouldn't mean opening hundreds of editor screens.
- 01
Find what's missing.
See every product image without alt text, across your whole connected catalog.
- 02
Review the drafts.
Lumi writes descriptions from your actual product and image details. Edit, regenerate when available, or set a draft aside based on how accurate it is and how the image is used.
- 03
Publish what you approve.
Updates go straight to your Shopify fields, one at a time or in reviewed batches. Every run records what was drafted and what was published.
02 / Storefront accessibility scans
Turn scan results
into real fixes.
Lumi scans a sample of your storefront pages and ranks accessibility findings by priority. Each one comes with evidence, the pages it affects, and a suggested next step, so you're never staring at a vague warning.
- 01
Know what needs attention.
See findings in priority order, with the pages where each one appears.
- 02
Give your developer a head start.
Review the scan findings with your developer for anything that needs a theme change.
- 03
Hand it to your AI coding tools.
Share the report with an assistant like Codex alongside your theme code, so it can investigate findings and propose fixes for you to review.
Review and test every fix, then scan again to confirm. Automated scans work alongside manual testing, not instead of it.
A little ongoing care
Keep checking as your store changes.
New promotions, theme edits, and app updates can all introduce new issues.
Maintain includes a 100-page storefront scan every 14 days to support a regular accessibility review routine. Review each scan's findings, address what needs attention, and use manual testing for what automated checks can't determine.
Accessibility scans cover public storefront pages within your plan's limits. They're separate from the catalog gap scan.
Begin with the free plan
Start small. See if the workflow fits.
The free plan lets you review and publish alt text in batches of up to 10 products and run a manual storefront scan with limited page coverage.
Maintain includes a 100-page accessibility scan every 14 days.
A few useful answers
Questions before you start?
Will Lumi make my store ADA compliant or prevent a lawsuit?
No. Lumi finds certain issues and helps you fix specific ones, like alt text. Accessibility requires broader evaluation, including manual testing, and a clean automated scan does not mean a website is accessible. Read the DOJ's guidance.
Does Lumi automatically fix everything in a scan report?
No. Lumi drafts, reviews, and publishes product-image alt text. Other findings usually need changes to your theme or apps. Share the scan findings with your developer or an AI coding assistant, and review and test any changes before they go live.
Can I use my report with Codex?
Yes. Give Codex the scan findings with the relevant source code. It can help investigate findings and propose fixes. Review and test everything before publishing.
How often can I scan my storefront?
Free includes a 10-page accessibility scan every 30 days. One-Time Cleanup includes one scan up to 100 pages. Maintain includes a 100-page scan every 14 days.
Will Lumi publish content without my approval?
No, not by default. Batches you start stay in draft until you approve them. Maintain can automate drafts for new-product content and missing image alt text after product updates; enabled automation can publish automatically after you opt in.
Does every empty alt-text field need a description?
No. The right alt text depends on what the image does on the page. Decorative images often need an intentionally empty text alternative. Review images in context before publishing. See W3C's image guidance.
What happens if I uninstall?
Everything you published through Lumi stays in your Shopify fields.
